"Eldridge [Cleaver] had been living in Algeria with Kathleen Cleaver and their two children. He and the party had been granted diplomatic status by the Algerian authorities, who provided him with a villa and gave him travel privileges to North Korea and other socialist nations to garner support for the party. Even Yasser Arafat of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation visited Eldridge in Algeria, bringing a case load of AK-47s […] Many African liberation organisations were offered headquarters and support from the Algerian government, including organisations from Angola, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. But none of their offices compared to the compound provided for the Black Panther Party. [Panther member] Don Cox event attended PLO training camps."
