Got this book today, Interesting, its written by Yaacov Ro'i, who is specialising in the USSR relations with the 'Muslim world', esp Central Asia and the 'middle east' at the centre for Russian and East European Studies at the university of tel-aviv!

This is published in 2000, and is over 700 pages of analysis and commentary on the subject of 'Islam and the Soviet Union: from World War II to Perestroika' (ie., until the late 1980s).

So like a lot of stuff coming from the enemy, one needs a critical and vigilant GlobalSouth and anti-imperialist mind to navigate this kinda stuff.

The front cover features a front cover from a Soviet magazine 'Science and Religion' from 1968 showing a young woman married against her will to an elderly man, and is captioned 'What is the Sharia?'
