The Government of the Republic of Cuba strongly condemns attempts developing coup against the constitutional government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the violent incidents that caused deaths, dozens of injuries, attacks on public institutions, burning vehicles and destruction organized by fascist groups such as the world has denounced President Nicolas Maduro.

The Cuban government expressed full support for the Bolivarian Revolution and Chavista and summons the wider international solidarity with the conviction that the Venezuelan people will know how to defend their conquests irreversible, the legacy of President Hugo Chavez and the government elected freely and independently, headed by President Maduro.

We must remember that the events yesterday, while youth and Venezuelan nation commemorating the bicentennial of the heroic battle of "La Victoria" are similar to those that occurred on April 11, 2002, which at that time were amplified by complicit governments and oligarchic and transnational media as part of the coup, then defeated by popular mobilization with the victorious return of Chavez.

Cuba also reaffirms its unconditional support to the valiant and visible efforts of President Maduro and the political and military leadership of the Bolivarian revolution, to preserve peace, to integrate all sectors of the country and boost socio-economic development of the fraternal nation.
