Al-Jazeera has sold out Palestine
It's been quite clear that since Al-Jazeera has been reporting less and less on issues pertaining to the Palestinian struggle for national liberation. Rather it has put its channel at the service of the west in regime change in its agit-prop in the Arab Spring. The obvious point to make is that why hasn't AJ put its media at the service of the Palestinian struggle, and instead been a fundamentally important tool for western regime change (read more here about AJ's role in the nato war on Libya).
The obvious reason is that AJ is the media of the Qatari monarchy, which is itself a historical creation of British colonialism, and is today home to the biggest us army base in the region, and generally Qatar is positioning itself on the wings of nato to achieve hegemony in the region.
Many of our brothers and sisters in Palestine are well aware of AJ's problematic nature, and the worrying political situation in the region whereby the Palestinian resistance is losing out support to pro-western movements in Syria for example. The hunger strike by Palestinian Islamic Jihad prisoner Khader Adnan is in part an attempt by the Palestinian resistance to re-focus people to supporting the Palestinian cause.
The challenge for the international movement in support of Palestinian freedom is to reflect that supporting the Palestinians is not a simple case of waving the Palestinian flag or just sitting content that somehow liberal or narrow 'Islamist' support to Palestine is enough. No, rather one would perhaps do better to understand the great political dangers to the resistance positions in the region which are under threat, and whatever the limitations of these regimes and movements, the Syrian and Iranian states, and Hizbullah are all under direct and immediate threat at the moment. Indeed, the Palestinian cause is,if the current political trajectory continues in the region, in danger of a death blow unless the resistance trend against imperialism and zionism is the region regains its momentum.
